    My white grandparents did this to my mother’s boyfriends. Wouldn’t allow him inside, would be extremely rude whenever they had to speak to him, then the crowning moment:

    “We don’t date black people. That’s just how it is.”

    Imagine their chagrin when my half-black half-white ass popped out as the newest member of the family.
