I’m Asian I can’t forget that

I chose these six words because I find that I sometimes will forget that I’m Asian just because I’ve been raised in the United States my entire life and live in an Irish-American family where we don’t really practice any traditional Korean customs. Most of my friends are white and it’s just really easy to forget that I’m not actually “white”. I guess it’s just something I need to work on remembering.

I was once told by my best friend and her husband, one day while trying to think of how many friends they had that were not white they came to the conclusion that they did not have any friends that were not white. After more thought they realized, none of their friends were white. Just “white washed” as they say. I didn’t know whether to be offended or admire their ability not to see the color of our skin.
