What a great perception! This is exactly what it should be. Richness of embracing both parents’ cultural heritage is more than just have half and half. How can we define in one category, box?

I am African American and Japanese. Only as an adult have I viewed this as a bonus as I came to understand the world’s appreciation of the rich and unique contributions of both cultures. It was interesting though that I had a co-worker tell me after seeing photos of me with my black friends that they always saw me as more Japanese than Black.
