“Race” is fake; I am not.

“Race” is a human-concocted, cultural construct that has nothing to do with biology and everything to do with (negative) cultural conditioning in racist societies. Human DNA produces a single species of humans – not multiple races of humans. If we are to have an honest discussion of “race,” we need to educate ourselves about its origins, intentions, and usage — and, with hope, raise consciousness so that people everywhere reject being classified and divided by racist ideology into these fake “racial” categories. When you classify yourself as a “race,” you are adopting destructive beliefs that have been maliciously calculated to make you believe that people are, somehow, inherently different (and they are not) because of (how shallow is this–>) the way that they look. “Race” is anti-intellectual – please reject “race” so that we may move forward to make the world a better place for all.

Finally! Someone with a brain! I completely agree. People tend to classify humans like we’re not of the same genus. Like we’re as different as tigers and lions. However, when a lion reproduces with a tiger the offspring is often born sterile along with other birth defects such as blindness. Since birth defects are not rampant among babies of mixed race, I would say we are one and the same. They say black people can’t swim. Well most people are taught to swim by their parents, who were taught to swim by their parents. Every black person can trace their lineage back to Africa, where any large body of water means death by crocodiles or hippos. With that in mind, why would anyone in Africa learn to swim or even want to? I bring this up because black people CAN swim as there was a black man on the 2012 US swim team, and because of a tragic story I heard about a little boy drowning at a family reunion. A black family was having a reunion by a lake with a pier. A little boy went to play on the pier and fell in. The family watched in terror as he drowned because nobody knew how to swim. This sounds like the most distasteful racist joke ever, but it’s not a joke, it actually happened.

“Race” is a term used by slave traders to distinguish slaves as lesser beings, and justify treating other persons so wrongly. To believe that persons of different cultures and varying appearances are separate “races” is to absorb the alienating hatred of the slaver, and build upon it as a truth. The term is as ugly as the ‘n’ word, if not more so.

We are all humans but let’s not pretend there are not differences based on race. Scientists can identify the race and sex of a human being just by looking at a set of bones. Differences don’t have to be a bad thing.

You’re spot on when you talk about how race is a social, not biological, construct. However, by saying race is fake and that we have to “reject “race” so that we may move forward to make the world a better place for all” you imply that since race doesn’t exist, neither does racism, which is a very dangerous idea.

We have a long way to go from being a colorblind society and denying the effects “race” have on our lives won’t solve anything. I really wish things weren’t this way!

I agree that racial classifications are destructive and are used to keep people with differing backgrounds, economic status, etc. apart. It is unfortunate that so many people have used race (physical traits that include skin tones) as their source of identity. There are more productive things in our lives that people can base their identity on such as geography, music tastes, food traditions, language, fashion, etc that don’t have to be used to keep people divided into such low level groupings like physical differences.
