They are nice on the inside.

I am just a young 17 year old girl and over the years I have come to learn that someone’s apperance on the outside is often times very misleading. In today’s world, we often find ourselves linking harsh stereotypes about people specifically based on the way they dress, act, or look. If they were spikes and black clothing, that automatically means they are gothic or emo, right? Wrong. If they are playful and funny, that automatically means they are childish, immature, and never take things seriously, right? Wrong again. If they are Latino that automatically means they immigrated illegally from Mexico, right? Most definitely wrong. These judgements and stereotypes have no place in the society of the modern world, but they still seem to find their way back in. I chose these six words because they represent the feelings I have toward people that aren’t exactly like me and I’m not just talking about race. This includes race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. I choose to try to maintain a very optimistic stance on life, therefore I give people the benefit of the doubt. Even if I get a bad vibe from someone on a first impression I refuse to automatically assume they are a bad person. I believe behind all things, there is a good intention. Whether it results in one or not, everyone strives for good things. Sure, many mallicous acts have been committed time and time again throughout our history as a nation and around the world, but I like to believe the intentions are good and the execution is where we lack. Even Hitler had to keep in mind the lives of the German people. I’m not saying that all bad acts are justified because they are not. But before passing judgement on someone you don’t know and just assume is a certain way, just remember that they are nice on the inside.
