Breaking the stereotype black male nurse

Chris Porter
Seattle, WA

History and TV have provided many roles, mostly negative, for black males. Our society rarely sees black men in the role of care taker or nurse, providing nursing care and in the role of leader particularly in a female dominated profession. It has been my life’s mission to tear down that stereotype despite a system that clings tightly to those stereotypes. I am the nurse who cares.
