I’m mixed. I have a mother from Peru and a father from Idaho. I was born and raised here in the United States. I know a little bit of Spanish but I am far from fluent. Because of my appearance, people assume I’m fluent and I’m constantly being spoken to in Spanish first. When I can’t respond, I constantly get questioned why I can’t speak Spanish despite being “brown”.
