A few years back I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua for a week. During the preparation for my trip I got lots of support from family and friends, but also lots of questioning such as “Why are you going to a foreign country to help children, there are plenty of children that need your help here in the US?”. The reason is because to me it doesn’t matter where you are helping, it is as long as you are. Children that are in need do not see borders so we shouldn’t either. If you have a heart for helping and mentoring to children why does it matter where you choose to help?
