I’ve been guilty of hurtful discrimination.

Jonathan Routon,
Riverside, CA.

Often times people are afraid to own up to past racism due to how they may be judged. I must confess that I have thrown hurtful and disgusting words in my youth and while I am far from proud of this period of my life I also fully own the fact that I did it. Even if you feel you should not be to blame because you were young, or others did it, these words have an immense amount of weight and emotion leveled behind them regardless of how trivially you toss them about.

I walk in, they hate me

Sidney Lozano,
USA.

When I walk into a room, any room I can feel every emotion arising from every single being. Everyone already hates me not because of the color of my skin but because they can not tell which “race” or “race(s)” that I belong to. Amongst this hatred is a hatred they feel from themselves because even they know that they’re already judging me without even saying as much as Hello to me.
