Educated and black is not an oxymoron. Base your opinion on my capabilities not my skin color.
Black successful professional; not an oxymoron.

There are times when people are honestly surprised that I am a successful African American woman. Due to my race, people have asked me really ridiculously inappropriate questions: “Was it hard to get out of the ghetto?” Me: I don’t know. I didn’t grow up in the ghetto. “Did you get into college because of affirmative action?” Me: Actually, I was able to get into college because of my 3.6 GPA and killer ACT score. “How does it feel being the first person in your family to go to college?” Me: Actually, my great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and sister all attended college and have college degrees. Don’t let BET fool you. Being a black successful professional is not an oxymoron. We exist.
The “United” States, a frightening oxymoron
