I get that yes in theory as a white male I have a head start in life, but I most certainly did not have it handed to me on a silver platter. I worked hard to get into college and am still working hard to make the massive student loan debt worth it when I get a good job. I would not even be in college if it was not for a small (and I mean less than close to covering 4 years of college) account left to me that covers the holes left by loans, grants and scholarships. I understand that concern for non-whites and non-males is important, hell I support it. But please don’t forget that just because a guy is white, that does not mean he does not need help or that he worked any less hard to get where he is.

Being Caucasian Doesn’t Make Me Racist

I feel that I always need to be careful about what I say so that I am not accused of being racist. At times, I will make the exact same comment as someone from a different race but I will be accused of being racist while the other person will not be. Whenever I am talking to someone from a different race, all I can think about is whether my next comment will offend the person I am talking to. Other students are offered many other advantages just because of their race. There are scholarships that are only given to those who are Native American, Hispanic, or African American but not for someone who is Caucasian. This shows that people of different races are given more opportunities for scholarships than Caucasians. They say that white people are being racist, while they are being racist themselves.

What about the white people?

Why isn’t there scholarships for white people? Why is there scholarships based on race anyways?

Why isn’t there white history month?
Why aren’t white people referred to as “white” but black people are generally referred to as “African American?” Why do they get often times get offended by being called “black” but white people have to be stuck with being called “white?”
Why are white people considered to be privileged when many, including myself, struggle to make ends meet just like any other race?

Don’t feel down, just earn scholarship

I am a struggling white college student with no scholarships. Why? Because all the scholarships available seem to be exclusively for first generation Americans, or Hispanics, or African Americans, or anyone but me. It’s not my fault I’m white. Why can’t I get scholarships??? Why can’t there be any scholarships exclusively for Caucasians or Western Europeans? Because that would be “racist”. Isn’t it racist to have scholarships for one specific ethnicity?
