As a preschool teacher, I would lay out black and white sheets of paper. The students would lay their hands on them. Wow! no one matched either. The lesson was that we are all the same and should be treated the same. I retired after 20 years and hope they all remember this lesson.

Yes, to expound I am tired of people misusing race or interchanging it with ethnicity. There is not one single genetic marker that distinguishes one ethnicity from another. The only time the color of ones skin should matter if they go missing or you are painting them in which case you’ll see that humans are just various shades of brown. Love for yourself isn’t skin deep, love your spirit and be a spirit not a ghost.

It is time to ignore appearance…it facilitates judging others. I am a father of 11 including 5 adopted kids and I love them all and wish others did. but my biological kids (Caucasian) have always been more accepted than my darker complected ones (adopted from India and some from an African-American heritage). You can learn so much by talking to people than by judging them based on any aspect of their appearance. Your segment today was inspiring; thanks!
