White, privileged, and until Floyd, clueless

Marvin Moriarty,
Belchertown, MA

George Floyd’s death at the hands of police stuck me hard and made me start looking into race matters more thoroughly. I found out about the “wealth gap” and the horrendous manner in which whites created it and continue to systemically integrate such practices into almost every facet of life in the US. Embarrassed but emboldened to help right the wrongs. Active in DEIJ group with local land trust and using knowledge gained there to change my life practices to be more mindful of the history of my privileges and to seek to share them across the racial divide.
