Without my mask, I get ignored.

If I speak in my normal voice, I get ignored and spoken over. If I speak loudly, people look embarrassed (but they still don’t hear what I have to say). I’ve gone through silent periods over the years. It’s tiring, wearing a mask of charm and cultural whitewash. Why is it so hard for people to just listen to me? Or even to just see me?
