Yes, I can comb my hair..

Society assumes since I am a black woman with natural hair I cannot do simple tasks like combing my hair. My hair texture is extremely curly and what some consider nappy. I have broken combs in the past and will continue to break them in the future. My problem with people asking me can I comb my hair stems from the ridiculous belief that your hair is only nice if it’s straight. I am BLACK, my hair does not grow straight and I’m not sorry.

I love this post. I think our hair is beautiful. It took time for me to get there though. Finally, I took out the 18 inch weave and cut it all off! I still relax it but I have learned to love the beauty in textured hair. I hate the term nappy because it seems to always be spoken in negative terms. My boys both rock their beautiful textured hair and have been taught to appreciate how beautiful their BLACK IS!!!
