A am half Mexican and half Puerto Rican. Throughout my life others have commented on my name referring to it as “black” and that I “Don’t look like my name”. Who’s to say what race the name Nikkishah is and what that person is supposed to look like? In fact, the origin of my name comes from Central Asia. It makes you realize how those within a society perceive one another and the stereotypes that surround us. With so much diversity, many are still so closed-minded.
