I showed up to work with my afro out for the first time. During the morning staff meeting, the ED opened by looking directly at me and stating “white women have bad hair days, too”.
My wedding images went viral and received HORRIBLE backlash from strangers from everywhere and all worlds for a number of reasons. One of the consistent comments was towards my hair which I wore in an afro. Comments echoed “She could have gotten her hair done for this one day.”
I showed up to work at my current job with my afro out for the first time after working there for 4 months and my white, female colleague literally laughed out loud when I walked in.
