Navigating through corporate America as a black man has been a struggle. Always has; Will it get better? You have no idea. I come to work, put on the show of happiness all while struggling. Can I truly provide ideas in this meeting or will I be labeled. As a black man in corporate America I don’t get the luxury of being a straight shooter, or straight to the point. I ….. get labeled. There are moments of laughter on the inside when I enter the elevator and watch the white ladies grab their purses, only to see them again in a meeting and magically become accepted. It’s like something clicks and magically there’s an understand….he’s not a threat. So, will my struggle end? We need to have an idea. I have hope and I pray that we pull ideas from these session and be serious about diversity and inclusion next month, the month after , the years after because WE black corporate Americans are struggling.
