Not Privileged, Not Racist, Not Different!

Angela Scarberry.

I am white and the first 10 years of my life I lived in a primarily black town. I was the only white child in Pre-k through 3rd grade. I never looked at my friends skin as being different than mine, I do not remember being treated differently for my skin color until I was in the 4th grade, then I started realizing that our skin was different but that was our only difference in my mind. I was not privileged just because of my skin color!!! I feel that the people that say that I was privileged based on my skin color is just as racist as the people that do not agree that black lives matter too. I lived in a home that loved everyone the same but did not believe in interracial marriages, although my grandparents on both side of my family were very racist. I am not racist, I do not agree with racism and will stand up against it. My husband and I did not raise our children the way we were raised and we raised them to treat and love everyone the same. I am nice to you and love you as long as I am being treated the same in return, no matter your color of your skin! I am no different than anyone else and nobody is different than me as far as our skin color, our rights, and our freedoms. We are all human and we are all God’s children just the same to me!
