I’m not Hispanic. Stop making assumptions.

Suzie Araujo.

For years I have been identified by others as hispanic based on my last name. When I explain that I am Portuguese, people respond “It’s the same as spanish”. I say NO. It is different and individuals from Europe are considered white. We may too many assumptions in this society. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being Hispanic, but my frustrations come from people making assumptions without taking the time to really get to know someone.
