I’m Proud Of My Black Family!

Camille Henry.

Growing up I never watched the news. There was always something on the news about someone being killed or hurt. Most of the images I saw, were of black men and women. That made me grow up not wanting children. I thought, how could I bring a child into this world, let alone a black child. When I heard I was having a son, I immediately felt intense guilt and fear. But as my son has grown, he has shown me the immense strength he has and I now look at him as someone to help shape and change the image of this world. He makes me so proud every day and I’m so happy to be his mother.
