I AM HUMAN NOT A STEREOTYPE

EVELYN ANTOINETTE AKERS.

I am a naturalized citizen of the USA. I identify as multiracial since I have European, African, and Mediterranean roots. I am married to a white male, and together we have a biracial child whom we love dearly. Most people assume many things about me and my nationality, I have often been asked if my name is truly my given name or if it is a translation for something else. I often had to explain that my name has Hebrew roots from the word Hhavvah meaning “life” and Antoinette is French/English meaning “praiseworthy” and it is a faith thing since is the name my parents choose as a blessing over my life; it is also is my mother’s name. Anyway, I am tired of having to justify my origin, my name, my looks, my accent, and the reason why I immigrated to this country, why does it matter…I am just happy to be here! Live, let live and be kind to others.
