Watching White Southern Hate Devastated Me

Aviyah Farkas,
Los Angeles, CA

I am a 73 y.o. woman who grew up on the Lower East Side, Manhattan; a multi ethnic, multi colored place of acceptance. As a young girl watching white southern hate, Bull Connor, German shepherds, attacks against Black children, caused tremendous pain and devastation for me. My father was a Holocaust survivor and we were taught to find Beauty in everyone.
