Oh, I wasn’t expecting someone black

As a young, black female majoring in architecture, I’m continually confronted with stares and comments from people not used to seeing someone like me in the field. This is especially so at job interviews where they are usually expecting a young white female rather than myself. So while their mouths may say hello, their eyes say “Oh, I wasn’t expecting someone black”
