On a recent visit to my local Small Business Association, I was told that there was nothing they could do for me. However, if I had a business partner who was a member of an “Underrepresented Group,” they could procure a preferred loan for us. I have come to find out that “Underrepresented Group” means anyone who is not a white man. Similar language is also used in the application process for many government grants.
