Why do they hate us so?

My question is based on my belief that though things are better in the US between the races (by ‘races’ I mean Blacks and whites, specifically); there is an underlying animosity from white people, as a group, against Black people, as a group, that persists. I am not referring to individual relationships/interactions. I am referring to the systemic and entrenched racism that is tightly woven into the fabric of the American psyche. I am referring to the racist attitudes that define race relations in the United States. Racism is so insidious here that many times white people don’t even know they are being racist (and more importantly what informs that behavior historically); they are truly confused. Other times it so blatant that you have to accept the racist behavior for what it is. So, whenever a racially motivated incident occurs I don’t ask myself, if it was because the person was Black, I know that. I ask myself: “Why do they hate us so?”.
