When my family moved to a predominantly white neighborhood, we were one of three Black families living on our street. One day, my mother, sisters and I went for a walk to explore our new neighborhood. An old white lady saw us walking and called the cops on us. The police car pulled up next to us and asked us what we were doing and if we needed help because they got a call that there was a disturbance outside.
