lowernine.org is engaged in the long-term recovery of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward after Katrina and the levee breaches of 2005. While this historic community enjoyed one of the highest rates of black homeownership in the nation prior to the federal flood, the pace of its recovery has been glacial.
