While I do feel like sometimes there is too much emphasis on one person to represent an entire identity (whether that’s race, gender, etc.), I do think there is an unique opportunity to bridge, educate and expose individuals who may not know. There is so much work to be done in the world and I think it is sometimes easy to get complacent or comfortable. I try my best to ask this question of myself in most of my interactions and while nothing will ever be enough – am I am at least trying to influence as much as I possibly can. Because if not me, who else?
