As a white Latino, I am almost ashamed to comment on discrimination as I realize I am very lucky in not having suffered from it overtly. However, I chose to share this sentence because I think it is a complicated topic and in some cases more subtle, but it can still impact people. I have often struggled to distinguish when/where this is genuine curiosity versus where it is being used to find the “box” I fit in. It is only in looking back that I can appreciate some settings where I wasn’t so welcome. I have to say that at times these situations play with your mind and leaves you questioning why you were excluded and if it was something I did.
