I’m not trying to be anything else

Alex Mayes,
Suffolk, VA.

I grew up in a multicultural family. I am hispanic but mixed with black, white, and native american. I typically don’t talk about what I am. Many people assume that because I talk a certain way or act a certain way, that I am trying to be anything besides black. I am so proud of who I am, and everyone should be. I was not raised in the kind of environment that would have me behave any differently.
