Minh Nguyen.
Growing up, I’ve always been questioned of my name. I will remember the first time going to school and having teachers call me “Ming” even though I’m not sure where the “g” sound came from. As I got older, it made me upset because it seemed as though they were attempting to what I would call “asian-ize” my name. It always made me stick out and feel like an outsider. Then into my adult life, I still get questioned of it at work by customers as I work on the phone. I definitely understand my name is different than your average American name, but it bothers me deeply to hear a person tell me my name is “odd”.
