I immigrated form Ukraine back in 2014. The United States seemed incredibly diverse to me compared to my homeland and I’ve embraced it. My very first friend was a wonderful young lady named Harriet from Sudan. Neither one of us spoke English fluently. Since then, I’ve acquired friends from many corners of the world and experienced what it’s like to be different from everyone else. For the most part it’s been a good experience and I feel I’ve assimilated into American culture quiet well. I enjoy learning and experiencing different cultures and will do everything I can to instill the same in my kids. We need to love our neighbors, regardless of where they’re from or what they look like.
