I’m half Mexican but pass for white (most of the time). I’ve benefited from white privilege, and racists have shared their ugliest thoughts/jokes with me. I’ve also been the target of racists. But that doesn’t touch the sinking feeling of being with someone you consider a friend who candidly shares their racism, because they think you are one of them.
