I wish my parents knew why I was so passionate about the Black Lives Matter movement. Growing up in a an all white neighborhood, my mother never expected me to marry a black Latino man (which I was cultured on later) When I try to have conversations, I get responses like “your kids are not black” and ” I believe all lives matter” I send her stories and historical things to read but feel it’s wasted effort. She sees it as me being angry when my approach is always kind and from love. It hurts to have that divide. Shes my mom! 🙁
