What does “sounding black” sound like?

I grew up with a single mother who depended on my grandmother assisting her with babysitting, who lived in what was considered a lower-income area. My mom sent us to private school and I have heard all my life that I don’t talk black. Even at work on the phones, I have customers who advise me that I don’t speak like a black person which confuses me.
