“You are too good for him”

I was out to eat with a black friend of mine, at one point during the meal I got up to grab him a fork and this old white lady approached me. She went out of her way to point at my friend and told me that I was too good for him, he would drag me down in life. I was so angered by this, I didn’t have words. I walked back to my table flustered and never told anyone.
