I grew up in El Paso TX. When I came to the East coast back in 1990, people automatically thought I was white, and if I said I was Latino, they would say oh your Puerto Rican? I would say no, I am Mexican/American. Then I would get asked, Oh wow from what part of Mexico? I would always reply, El Paso, Texas. No, no, no Dan where in Mexico? I would reply not sure, all I know is that I am from Texas, my ancestors are from Mexico, and Spain. Then I would get the Wow, you look nothing like a Mexican, and then they would add. I love Tacos. I still get that to this day.
