I naturally have a very low, monotone voice. But since starting here in 2016, I have been told to change it to sound more “customer service friendly.” IE: go up half an octave, sound more feminine, put a high inflection at the end of your words. And then when some people at work hear me use my real voice they say things like: ‘are you okay?’; ‘you sound upset.’ ; ‘your voice sounds condescending.’ ; and ‘you sound sarcastic all the time.’ it’s annoying.
