Zac.
I am Jewish, am from Pittsburgh, Squirrel Hill, and went to Tree of Life synagogue growing up. My family has been on the board for decades and my grandma almost went to synagogue that morning. I woke up to someone asking if I was alive and then was questioned for hours by the community about if my roommate and family was alive. My family and I question whether I’m safe wherever I go and how much I should hide my Judaism. I’m lucky, I’m secular and I benefit from white privilege, so many cannot hide their minority.
