There’s nothing wrong with my hair!

Deborah King
Bolingbrook, IL

I was 7 years old the first time I had my hair straightened with a hot comb. For the next 25 years, my world revolved around the maintenance and condition of my hair. Moving to another city, the first order of business was to find a hair dresser. The never ending quest for the perfect straightening product led to a quest for conditioning and repair products. At 35 I stopped straightening and the women in my family went crazy. My natural hair was a mess! “Nobody wants to look at that! You’ll never get a job looking like a lazy n*****!” I wore synthetic braids for the next 10 years. My mother eventually said she wished she was brave enough to go natural. At 46, I am now TOTALLY natural. No plastic, no chemistry, no blow drying. Just tight natural locks.
