The issue of race has evolved but we in the US are still struggling and clearly uncomfortable. Those probing questions that my children get (What are you? Which parent is black? Are you Puerto Rican? How did you get blue eyes? That blond hair could not have come your Mom, right?) may be out of curiosity but they are hurtful and rude. It shows an ignorance and lack of acceptance of our history. We are a multi-cultural society, so it is not logical to think that everyone will fall into once racial box. Plus we should know that race is a social construct to divide us all . Apparently it has worked. We still have a ways to go.
