I was attending a company Christmas party with my father as a child. A white friend of mine whose father also worked for the company asked why did I not attend the summer picnic. I explained that I had attended. He said I did not, because he had looked for me and we began to argue. Our parents explained that we both had attended the picnic. I had attended the picnic for the Black employees and my friend had attended the picnic for the white employees.
