Wait, he’s not your sugar daddy?

Aubrie B.,
Moscow, ID.

I am an 18 year old adopted Chinese girl. For years, I’ve endured the disgusted looks of onlookers whenever I go out in public with my adoptive father in the most harmless places; the grocery store or a restaurant. Even when my adoptive mother is there, many still glare at me. I’m assumed to be an Asian sugar baby, selling my body. This comes from the assumption that all Asian females are submissive and brainless, and will essentially become slaves to any man. This attitude of society is humiliating and completely disrespectful to Asian culture.
