Growing up with the stereotypical Tiger Mom supposedly fosters the growth of amazing children, but I have only seen the heartbreak and misery it usually brings. The incredible pressures brought on by parents that want to live vicariously through their children – raising them to only accept being number one (and that all else is abject failure) wreaks havoc on the psyche of a child; and even more so when brought up in Western society where individuality and creative contribution is praised. In a race where it is all or nothing, what happens to everyone who isn’t number one, when the parents that demand perfection throw them away?
