This happened to me in college in 1971. I was an education major, and a black student spoke to our Philosophy of Education class. He asked the students to raise their hands if they felt they were not racist. I raised my hand. I was the only one who raised my hand in a class of 150 students. He proceeded to verbally crucify me. I listened. Going through my mind the entire time was “You know nothing about me.”
