Raised rich in love, not money.

Lana Moore,
Sarcoxie, MO.

I am the youngest of eight children, who were all encouraged to further our education. All eight of us went to college. Our mother taught in a one room school house until she was expecting her fourth child, and our father was a mechanic. Our parents raised us to view all people as worthy of our respect. We grew up with “enough” through all of us contributing. We always had a large garden for fresh produce and to be preserved for the winter months, cows for milk and meat. When I was one, my parents built their first commercial chicken house, the second when I was five. This was to provide an income along with my dad working as a bus mechanic that helped feed and educate us. We were poor, but we didn’t know it because we had nothing to compare it to. Everyone at that time around us were in the same proverbial boat. We are a very close knit family. Although our parents are no longer with us, we honor them with the knowledge that by their example and encouragement, we are rich by having each other.
