But WHERE is your family from

Engel,
Italy

I’ve always been asked by curious neighbors or just my peers about my ethnicity and have had friends comment on my “year-long” tan.

I use to be a waitress and during the summer as my skin darkened I had received many comments from my tables thinking I’m Spanish. I’ve received racist remarks from a few. While many think I’m Latina or Spanish my color comes from my Filipino ancestry, which thanks to some DNA tests and previous knowledge in 16% Southeast Asian.
I often struggle with my race because I don’t look “Asian enough”, but I don’t look “white enough” either. The first question people should ask you is your name, not your ethnicity.
Brown is beautiful!
