My biggest aspiration at age eighteen was to get into a good college, but once I got there, all I found was one big drugged out meat market. After two disastrous relationships, I dropped out and began exploring my Jewish roots. I found that contrary to popular belief, Orthodox Judaism honors women. It’s one of the few societies around today where being a “good girl” doesn’t make you a prudish nerd, but a person worthy of respect.
Becoming Hasidic was a feminist choice.
