Becoming myself not my birth giver

Kurstyn Ciancio,
Weatherford, OK

Everyone assumes that since I look like my mother, I am just like her. I am the spitting image of my the woman I call birth giver but have created a better future for myself. I use the term “birth giver” because it takes more than carrying a child for 9 months to be classified as a mother. It requires warmth, compassion, and the necessary aid to transition into adulthood. While this woman lacked the want to be a mother, I have developed into a well adjusted young woman that now knows how not to be a parent.
